Nupe My Origin

Nupe my origin, read all about Nupe people and how they originated, trace their culture back to tsoede and kpara of idah

NUPE WITCHCRAFT IS REAL. IT IS PROPORTIONALLY A SPIRITS' AFFAIR. WE USE IT TO DEFEND OURSELVES AGAINST OUR ENEMIES, WHILE PRAYERS REMAIN CONSTANT. SO, THE APPLICATION OF WITCHCRAFT TO DEFEND KUTIGI IS A NICE ONE. UP TILL NOW, NO MALLAM HAS APPEARED THERE-IN, EXCEPT THE VIGILANTES

.

Anybody who says Nupe Witchcraft is not real is only deceiving himself. The only tool or means you can use to convince us of its evil is that, some practitioners of witchcraft apply it wrongly. Instead of using it as a defensive tool, they use it to hurt their fellows.

Let's stop deceiving ourselves. Let's stop interrogating the good efforts of the Nupes towards fighting Insecurity. The application of witchcraft to resist the invasion of the Bandits in Kutigi town was really a good one. We applaud this spiritual defense. We don't see anything wrong in it. That is self-defense.

Our soldiers who are higher in terms of warfare, It seems the bandits are not afraid of them any longer. Several videos we watched and even audios, show that these cursed bandits and Kidnappers only mentioned Vigilantes as their threats. Do you think that the vigilantes face the bandits ordinarily, without any spiritual back up? You think that is really possible? Can you lead us to the bush or forest? Please stop making noise and let's just move on.

Sir/Ma, please let's stop stabbing the efforts of the Nupes to end this insecurity. I have said it times without number that no Mallam whether SUNNI or TARIKA or PASTOR will boldly volunteer to face these bandits. They can't. They won't try it. So, why do you continue to rubbish our Nupe efforts?

Besides, prayer will not work for a reluctant seeker. It works for those who stand-up for it. Even witches or wizards too call God. We all call God in different ways. God is a tireless listener to all prayers.

To me, Nupe witchcraft is good if it is applied correctly.

THE SUPERNATURAL POWER OF NUPE VIGILANTES. WHAT NUPE HUNTERS OR VIGILANTES DID IN KINNUPE IS THE LAST DISPLAY OF BLACK POWER IN NIGERIA

.

The idea of involving traditional rulers in the fight against insurgency is not a misplaced one. This was even what we expected long before now from the Nigerian government. Although it is not late. Vigilantes are the real men to do the work. They have supernatural powers. Both the bandits and the kidnappers possess black power too. If you watched the movie; ISSAKABA, you will agree with me that there is hardly a criminal that operates in ordinary natural terms. And once ordinary people are sent to go and face them, they end up wandering about in the forest, seeing nothing, whereas the criminals are clearly present in different camps therein.

In Nupe land, the exhibition of supernatural powers started from the day one brave warrior or hunter declared himself "Etsu Nupe." We are aware that there was a certain KPARA before that event. KPARA too was a Nupe man. He told his people he was going to the heavens to see his brother. He instructed them to pile a lot of firewood on the top of a certain mountain. When the wood got to a particular level, he asked them to tie the ropes they had come with together. He then tied the rope around his waist and started the journey to the sky. He said, "any day I am coming back from the sky, you will see the rope fall down a week to my arrival". He actually made it back. So, anytime a child misbehaves, the elders threaten to curse the child (Wo a jin kpara, meaning: you can't be as brave as Kpara).

As for Tsoede, I don't want to go deep into his story but let me just cut a little out of the surface.

When Tsoede returned from Yida, he met his uncle as the king in Nku. He didn't want to wage a war against his uncle who was his mother's brother even though he was very much aware that he could take the throne away from him. He left Nku for Nupeko. He settled there and studied his maternal's people's way of life very well. He learnt their witchcraft and became so powerful.

One day, Tsoede invited all the 11 Nupe settlements for a crucial meeting in Nupeko. He said "each of thes hie rulers should come with all his supernatural powers for exhibition." They came. As the exhibition was ongoing, one Gboya's grandfather appeared in a dress that covered his face. He stretched up to a certain height and later got out of the dress, leaving it on the ground. People started shouting. Tsoede asked to know who was inside the dress. They answered; "Ndako Gboya" meaning: Gboya's Grandfather. That was how Nupe masquerade was named Ndakogboya.

Tsoede already knew that his magic superseded theirs. So there and then, he declared himself as the Etsu Nupe and that nobody should rule his people without his consent. That was how Etsu Nupe came to be.

In those days, the great men of kinnupe were the War generals (Mayaki), and the leaders of the hunters because they understood the geography of the entire land and adjoining forests. So, their service was employed to protect others who were not as powerful as they were. Along the line, women started showing their powers too. Sagi Nnanuwan became so powerful. No one dared her. She followed men to war. That was how women joined men to move Kinnupe forward.

The story of Ndace Rongbo from somewhere around Zugurma also adds credit to this point. When some enemies tried to rebel against kinnupe, Ndace-rongbo led the team that brought them to their knees. He performed all sorts of magic and won the battle.

Coming down to 1975, criminals tried hard to take over kinnupe. The then Etsu Nupe employed the service of hunters across kinnupe. These hunters fought the evil men that were causing kinnupe sleepless nights. The leader of the group was said to have performed magic. The main villian killed only few vigilantes before the leader of the vigilantes got rid of him. He was said to have changed to so many different animals while the vigilante leader too changed to the ones bigger than them. At the end, he caught the evil one.

Somewhere around Edati, out of the seven criminals that attacked the area, six were killed but the leader of the gang, proved stubborn. He disappeared then reappeared as a lizard, the vigilante leaders changed with him and followed him to the sky. They were victorious over him.

Now in Lapai axis, the vigilantes killed some of the bandits that attacked. The leader was said to be very dangerous but the Nupe vigilantes neutralized him. They caught him and later killed him.

No Nupe vigilante or hunter goes to the bush without supernatural power

May God forgive us wherever we are wrong and strengthen our faith in HIM, Amin.

History Of Hajiya Fatima Lolo

Lolo, Fatima (1891 – 1997): Queen of Nupe Musical and an Ambassador, a leader, historian, choreography and legend who change the cause of music industry in Nupeland.

Fatima Lolo was born in 1891 to the family of Mallam Kolo (Jibrin Muhammadu) and Mama Sakpe (Fatima) at Patigi.

However, Lolo was brought up at Etsu her home village when the family finally returned. Lolo’s intelligence in the art of music began to manifest at the age of 7 years; she was attracted to people during festivities where she usually dance with plates on her hands. At the age of 15 years she began to sing within her environment to the hunters, farmers and fishermen.

Fatima Lolo began her journey to the top when she performed for the 9th Etsu Nupe, Muhammadu Ndayako, who was then the District Head of Zhima together with the 6th Etsu Nupe Agaie, Alhaji Abdullahi. After the performance Lolo was honoured with the gift of horses by both Etsus. Consequently the gift was the starting point for Lolo to ride on a horse back.

Fatima Lolo got married at the age of 29 to Etsu Sarki (Muhammadu Emi Ejiko). The marriage could not produce any child. After the demise of Etsu Sarki, Lolo got married to Mallam Abubakar from Sarkiwa village and her marriage was with Alhaji Zanko Katambako (Nagun Nupe) still the last two marriages could not produce a child.

III. Her Ascension to Power

Fatima Lolo was turbaned Sagi Ningbazhi (Queen of Musician) by the 10th Etsu Nupe, Usman Sarki, after Kaka Kwakwagi who was the reigning Sagi Ningba died. The turban of Lolo as the Sagi Ningbazhi was the beginning of unification of traditional musicians in Nupeland which brough about glamour to the Nupe music industry.

Fatima Lolo was a historian with retentive memory; her songs tell the past history of travails that happened in Nupeland. And as a choreographer, she was a Nupe leading dancer ever seen. She did not only teach her troupe dancing steps but also lead them on the stage. Her dancing.

HAJIYA FATIMA LOLO'S CLASH WITH ONE OF HER NUPE NEIGHBOURS WHO WAS ALSO A SINGER SOMEWHERE IN NIGERIA MADE HER WITCHCRAFT TO MAINTAIN HER QUEENSHIP.

Hajiya Fatima Lolo participated fully in the first Durbar Festival in Kaduna. She exhibited her God's given talent at the event. Her scientific knowledge in witchcraft made her the first African Musician to officially perform in England by Her Majesty's invitation. The Queen made her an Ambassador thanks to her canary-like voice.

During another Festival, again in Northern part of Nigeria, originally, all traditional singers prepared their witchcrafts very well before attending occasions. This was done to make their luck shine at the events. And you know, if two elephants fight, the grass suffers, so Hajiya Fatima Lolo was trying to maintain her position as the Queen of African Music as recognized by Queen Elizabeth but other Men and Women musicians from neighbouring parts of Nupe/north Kingdom attacked her claim. She decimated all of them except one MS who resisted her. It was obvious that both of them showed superior witchcraft power against one another.

MS tried to stop Hajiya Fatima Lolo's voice from singing to the delight of listeners. And Hajiya Fatima Lolo broke the tool MS used to sing but MS used his witchcraft power to fix it immediately.

It got to a point that MS broke all Hajiya Fatima Lolo's drums. No drum could give a sound but Hajiya Fatima Lolo in retaliation invited the service of Jinns to drum for her on AIR. This took everyone by surprise. This time she was unattached. She defeated the strongest MS and reaffirmed her Queenship.

Even in kinnupe here, a lot of happenings occurred between Hajiya Fatima Lolo and her other Nupe neighbours. It was a show of witchcraft powers. Her clash with several singers made her absolutely untouchable.

Look, we are aware of some of the past events of witchcrafts. We just left them never to narrate them because of the religion we practice. The reason for telling some of them today is to prove to some people that Nupe Land remains as powerful as it was in the past. We don't condone any form of unnecessary disrespect. We are prayer warriors also. The things we tie in our necks and waists signify RED-BLUE-GREEN colours (Meaning: Warrior-Fishing-Farming).
